According to senior author Andrew Gewirtz of Emory University School of Medicine, that obesity epidemic in the developed world is driven by an increasingly sedentary lifestyle and the abundance of low-cost, high-calorie foods. The result of their study suggests that excess caloric consumption is not only a result of undisciplined eating but the intestinal bacteria contribute to changes in appetite and metabolism.

On Gewirtz study, they have used genetically engineered mice to be deficient in a key immune system protein called TLR5, which serves as the neighborhood cop of the intestinal community. In addition to TLR5, it is bacteria that keep in check and knows not too apply too much force and does not harm the good bacteria.

An immune system that cannot regulate TLR5 properly is observed to have a low level inflammation sets in and desensitized insulin receptors. The mice that ate 10 percent of food got heavier by 20 percent; they also developed a cluster of disorders that in humans increases the risk of heart diseases and diabetes.

Gewirtz study suggest that portion of obesity may result from insulin resistance rather than the commonly held view that type 2 diabetes and insulin resistance is a consequences of obesity.

In human, we can develop a poor regulation of TLR5 if we have poor diet and antibiotics, because relatively we have stable intestinal bacterial populations from birth.

In addition to Gewirtz study, a portion of the epidemic of obesity and metabolic symptoms may be resulting from early environmental conditions that affect one’s gut micro biota.

A glimpse to this study though, is the hope that one day this deficiency can be reversed by giving babies the right bacteria beforehand.

Type in a couple of womens health fitness keywords into Google or any one of the many search engines and what do you get? You get some great sites related to womens health fitness and more

There are tons of womens health fitness websites some are little more than advertisements but many others provide a terrific supply of information relating to womens issues. Scientific research, data from studies, health conditions, nutrition, and fitness, as well as prevention and treatment information.

It’s important for women to get accurate information about issues that directly relate to their health and that includes the latest on womens health fitness. What was thought the best advice only a year or so ago has now been improved.

For example today it is a well known fact that women suffer heart attacks at the same rate as men but they often present differently to emergency wards to many go undiagnosed. It has also bee shown that womens health fitness is critical to keeping women healthier especially after menopause when their natural protection dwindles.

Studies have also shown that women health fitness can make a big difference in a womens ability to maintain here weight. It seems after 40 women get the privilege of a few extra pounds suddenly appearing around the waste line and so with some proper exercise routines you can better defy mother nature.

Womens health fitness is finally getting the same attention that mens has for decades. Suddenly we realize that besides helping to keep the pounds off women also need to make sure that they are taking care of their cardio workouts.

This brings us to another subject – weight loss. For many women this is an ongoing battle that’s not easy to resolve. Many would love to convince you that you need all kinds of diet pills to lose those pounds when really what you need is much simpler. You need to ensure that the calories you are burning exceed the calories you are taking in.

There are plenty of excellent health fitness resource sites for women and there are just as many terrific magazines that are full of helpful exercise tips, nutritional tips, and all kinds of tips to have you looking and feeling great. And isn’t that what all women want? To look and feel their best?

Women may a great deal more attention to how they look and feel then men do. In general women are much more in tune to the signals their bodies are sending them and they are also much more interested in health fitness and how it affects their overall well being.

Men are more interested in fitness to great a buff, polished look although slowly they are beginning to recognize and understand the value of a cardio workout. Women on the other hand have long understood how their health fitness and their overall well being were directly related. And for one to have a terrific overall well being they needed to have a good health fitness ethic.

So the only question that remains is which type of health fitness program best suits your own personal lifestyle and goals.

Despite the numerous “remedies” available in drug stores, pharmacies and online stores, hair loss is a health problem difficult to overcome – not only physically but also psychologically. If you doubt wake up to find my pillow covered with hair, signs of the time the too obvious and many people begin their general health and fitness.

Hair Loss Losing your hair can be hereditary, but genetics can be controlled to a certainDegree. Inevitably, the hair loss in men and women is closely linked to the health of the scalp. Ensure that regular exercise, adequate sleep each night, with ahealthy diet and relaxation techniques like yoga can contribute to the negative effects of stress.

Stress is considered one of the main reasons for losing hair, and is particularly related to issues of human health. Men who suffer from stress are often a shortage of B vitamins, so foods such as whole grains, oily fish , yeast extracts (like Marmite), peas, can natural yoghurt, eggs and milk contribute to improve these shortcomings.

Of course,Alternative methods can also be used both to reduce stress and address the problem of hair loss. An old traditional method is to massage the scalp with water, rosemary, and aims to strengthen the scalp and alleviate dandruff, which is aggravating in itself, problems with hair loss. Licorice also appears to help thicken hair and may also prevent losing hair.

Another enemy of hair growth and retention is a substance, as is well known that testosterone and DHT, if the mixSebum secreted from the scalp. Once formed, DHT causes hair follicles to collapse and eventually die. This type of hair loss known as androgenetic alopecia. There are several drugs available that can help this type of hair loss and doctors sometimes a combination of beta-sitosterol and write this type of hair loss Saw Palmetto to help increase.

As with most treatments, before symptoms recognized and treated, the better the chance of improvement. MaleHair loss is not reversible, especially to lose their hair when in men of the family together, but their development is through the use of herbs and prevent healthy lifestyles.

Earlier people never used to seek any guidance regarding womens health from any where. They used to feel shy in discussing or knowing anything about one’s bodily problems especially womens health. Women the name is itself is sufficient to know its world and when it comes to its health then the world is not enough to understand the topic womens health. Women has lots of problems not only bodily but also socially, official, homely and financially and its own originality, which passes through womens health only.

But today the main focus is going on womens health across the globe. Especially in america women are organizing seminars, community meetings, group discussions and organizing knowledge iwth games related to one’s health topics of womens health, so that one can focus more broadly on one’s or other womens health concern more seriously as it might help them in sharing with each other without having any problem.

Now the level of womens health ratio will only rise up if certain factors must get involved such as education, social awareness, good diets and financial stability in the society. Before touching any aspect of womens health one should think very genuinely about its facets. Its very important that the women must be educated regarding one’s own problems to understand them so that they can avoid the risk involved in losing one’s life and should be able to take more proper medication instead of lying on others or seeking others to come up for help. To understand womens health it is very important go through in such a way. Now parents are too playing good role in making womens health more broader issue by allowing one’s daughter doctor , engineer , and scientist to become and giving them every scope to make their prescence in every field shouldering men to men. There is no field left for women to touch them except womens health.

According to the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology, protein chemicals in pollen that cause seasonal allergies are also in certain raw foods. For example, ragwood pollen is related to chemicals in cantaloupe, banana, sunflower seeds, zucchini and cucumber. Grass pollen is related to peaches, celery, melons, tomatoes and oranges. When these foods are eaten, the body’s immune system responds as if it were ingesting pollen. Unlike seasonal allergies, oral allergy is year-round; and although reactions to it are usually limited to the lips and mouth, for one-third of seasonal allergy sufferers it’s nothing to sneeze at.

According to new guidelines issued in July 2008 by the American Academy of Pediatrics, children at risk for high cholesterol and heart disease should be screened; and it was recommended children be given cholesterol-lowering drugs. The concern about millions of children taking statin drugs with limited testing on children set off a controversy. However, far fewer children may need these drugs than predicted. A new study of the cholesterol levels of more than 2,700 youths ages 12 to 17 found less than 1% met AAP guidelines for drug treatment. Instead, a change in diet and increased exercise was recommended – a new look at an old solution.

According to a report published in the Archives of General Psychiatry, greater exposure to TV during teenage years increases the risk of depression in young adulthood – especially among males. The 4,100 healthy adolescents in the study reported an average of 5.68 hours a day of media exposure, of which 2.3 hours were TV. When the participants were screened 7 years later, 7.4% had developed depression. According to the report, the teens had a significantly greater likelihood of developing depression for each hour of TV watched per day. Regarding depression, TV seems to be part of the big picture.

According to a study done at the University of Munster in Germany, older adults who decrease their calories increase their memory. Women ages 50 to 80 who reduced their caloric intake by 30% for 3 months increased their scores on verbal memory tests by 20%. It seems the calorie reduction caused these women to be more sensitive to the blood-sugar-regulating hormone insulin and also have a drop in the inflammation-associated molecule C-reactive protein – both of which have been linked to improvement in brain function. That the calorie reduction also provided the benefit of weight loss was a no-brainer.

Influenza: Part of the Planet’s Plan for Our Health

So much a part of our yearly cycle and so widespread is the buzz surrounding the flu that it has been granted its own season, dubbed the “flu season.”  Like the holiday season, the flu season is a large-scale, consumer/media event.  Even as we speak our health care system is using the media to drive millions of consumers into the flu season marketplace where they will find supposed protection from the flu and, more importantly, buy millions of dollars worth of vaccine.  This approach to the flu stems from a consumer culture, health paradigm, the foundation of which rests on our inability to connect with or trust the wisdom of our bodies.  “Getting sick” brings a lot of vulnerability to the surface for most of us and our consumer culture does not support vulnerability.  If we don’t feel a connection to the wisdom of our bodies then the vulnerable process of “getting sick” can feel like a loss of control; very confusing and scary.  People will pay any price and do almost anything to remain in the good graces of the culture, retain control and avoid feeling that confusion and fear.  If we don’t feel a connection to the wisdom of our bodies, then health is seen as something outside of us.  If health is seen as something outside of us, then we will project our fear and confusion onto our Environment and any element in our Environment that might be seen as competing with us for a limited supply of health, like “germs.”  In this way the influenza virus has become the enemy and a convenient repository for our fear.  Our healthcare system takes advantage of this belief system and perpetuates it by selling us the illusion of health in the form of vaccine.  Essentially they are soothing our fear and selling it back to us in the same motion.  In the process we stay dependent on the healthcare system to give us our soothing “fix” and blind to the fact that we can access an unlimited supply of health by simply connecting with our bodies and the wisdom therein.          
 
The most commonly quoted definition of health, the definition formalized by the World Health Organization (WHO) over half a century ago, makes health feel less like something outside of us that can be purchased and more like something that is intrinsic to us, available in an unlimited supply and free of charge: “a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” (WHO, 1948).  In this definition the measure of health does not rest solely on whether we are “sick” or not, and such words as “social” and “well-being” are suggestive of an implicit, trusting relationship with our selves, and between our selves and our Environment.  The wisdom of our bodies puts us in direct contact with the same Intelligence which coordinates all life on this planet and its rhythms.  If we are connected to the wisdom of our bodies then we have a sense of connection to our Environment and everything in it.  If we have a sense of connection to our Environment and everything in it, then the “getting sick” experience becomes the empowering experience of the healing and evolutionary process as we allow our body-minds to entrain to the larger rhythms of our Environment.  Within this context health is defined as our ability to perceive subtle changes within our selves and within our Environment, adapt to those changes and evolve through them with our Environment.  When viewed from this perspective any element in our Environment, even the flu virus, can be utilized by our bodies’ wisdom as a catalyst for creating health. 

If you’ve had a direct, felt experience of this “connection to the wisdom of the body” that I keep referring to, then my words will resonate somewhere within you and that part of you will grok the bigger flu/health/Environment picture that I’m trying to paint.  Whether you’ve had that direct, felt experience or not, it’s useful to have information that can help your mind see things from a larger perspective, and scientific research can sometimes be good for providing that kind of information.  Fortunately there is a new area of research that, I believe, will eventually lead to a total transformation in the way that we view our health as it is related to our Environment and things like the flu.  In its early stages this research, conducted by the Human Microbiome Project, and the research that has come after it, is revealing a relationship between us and the microscopic animal kingdom that is vastly different from the relationship that the mainstream health model is based on.   

The Human Microbiome Project is a National Institutes of Health initiative which has as its goal the identification and characterization of the microorganisms found in and around our bodies and the discovery of their relationship to human health and disease states.  In a New York Times article, “How Microbes Defend and Define Us,” Human Microbiome Project expert George Weinstock points out that “we have over 10 times more microbes than human cells in our bodies” (Zimmer, 2010).  It is estimated that the average human body has about 50 trillion human cells in it.  That means that we have somewhere around 500 trillion microbes in each of our bodies.  And that’s only taking into consideration the microbes on the inside of us.  Human Microbiome Project researchers are finding that we are surrounded by and infused with a “cloud of microbes” (Zimmer, 2010).  Researchers are calling this cloud the microbiome, which is to say, the veritable universe of microbes (bacteria, fungi and others) that occupy every nanometer of space in the air around us, on us and inside of us. 

As a natural extension to the study of the microbes that share our space, and more relevant to our discussion of the flu, scientists are just beginning to train their focus on the world of viruses (known as the virome) that we co-exist with, as well.  Researchers are finding that the vast communities of microbes are accompanied by, and working in tandem with, equally vast communities of viruses.  A new study that appears in the July issue of Nature identified more than four thousand different viral strains in the guts of study subjects.  Eighty percent of these apparently symbiotic viruses were previously unknown, along with their functions (Reyes, et al., 2010). 

So at any given moment we are swimming in a sea of microbes and viruses (the microbiome/virome) and that sea of microbes and viruses is also swimming inside of us.  If you subscribe to the mainstream health model and are fearful of “germs,” you might not be feeling so well right now.  This sea of microbes and viruses, however, is not the enemy – far from it, in fact.  Microbiome/virome researchers are finding that the multitude of microbes and viruses are assisting us in ways that we couldn’t live without, from playing a role in the timing of our growth and development, to virtually digesting our food for us.  Our immune systems in particular appear to co-exist with the microbiome/virome.  In fact, says the author of the previously mentioned New York Times article, Human Microbiome Project researchers are finding that “the microbiome itself guides the immune system to the proper balance” (Zimmer, 2010).  The Nature, virus study revealed that viral strains were unique to each person in the study and over the course of the one year study the populations of viruses stayed mostly the same (Reyes, et al., 2010).  According to Martin Blaser, a microbiologist and physician at New York University’s Langone Medical Center, this kind of stability in viral populations indicates that the viruses are “part of our biology” (Saey, 2010). 

So much for our “germ” phobias and the universally accepted idea that we need to compete with the world of microbes and viruses for our health.  As we’ve just learned, the shear mass and complete omnipresence of the microbiome/virome makes it impossible to keep ourselves separate and it necessarily means that our relationship with the microbiome/virome is deeply symbiotic – if it weren’t we’d be dead.  The microbiome/virome is clearly as much a part of us as any of our organs and it functions as such.  

New microbiome/virome research is proving the current health paradigm to be based on a faulty premise.  What then of all the treatment approaches that are based on that faulty premise?  Could we expect those treatment approaches to even work, or worse, could they result in negative repercussions of some kind?  Some of the negative side effects of these treatment approaches are starting to surface in both the microbial and viral arenas.  It is widely known and accepted that the obsessive overuse of antibiotics has resulted in the creation of “superbugs;” bacteria that have mutated and become more resilient, and thus resistant to even the strongest of antibacterial agents.  Vaccines that are used to fight viruses have their own specters.  The flu vaccine has been associated with a handful of harmful side effects, the most serious of which is Guillain-Barré syndrome.  Guillain-Barré syndrome is an auto-immune disorder in which a person’s own immune system attacks nerve cells, causing nerve damage and paralysis.  Though cases of this are rare, Guillain-Barré syndrome remains a known, possible side effect of receiving the flu vaccine (CDC, 2011).

While the suggestion that the flu vaccine is harmful is somewhat controversial, there is a surprising amount of research in peer reviewed medical journals to support the idea that the flu vaccine simply doesn’t work (Mercola, 2010).  A very telling bit of research is a study published in the Journal of General Internal Medicine that found that sixty-two percent of healthcare workers, which include doctors and nurses, don’t receive the flu vaccine themselves.  The reasons for this, according to the authors of the study, are: A) the belief by healthcare works that the flu vaccine doesn’t work, B) healthcare workers’ fear of side effects like Guillain-Barré syndrome and C) the belief by healthcare works that their own immune systems are sufficient to keep them from getting sick (King, William D. et al., 2006).  In other words the majority of the people who actually work within our healthcare system are skeptical of the system’s ability to produce health and not harm when it comes to things like the influenza virus.  Ultimately, they choose to simply trust the wisdom of their bodies.

So what is this “wisdom of the body?”  Most of us have felt our bodies buzzing after a good workout session, after making love or after some exhilarating experience.  That buzz is life force energy – a kind of living, flowing intelligence, or wisdom as I’ve been referring to it.  This is the same intelligence or wisdom which animates and coordinates the billions of processes that are happening every moment in our bodies that, multiplied together, equal life for us.  Our Planet is a dynamic, self-organizing, living system just like we are.  The wisdom of our bodies is a subset of the Intelligence which animates and coordinates that global living system.  And so by connecting with the life force energy in our bodies, we create an uplink to the massive Intelligence which animates and coordinates not only the life on this Planet, but the life of the Planet itself.

As a dynamic, self-organizing, living system our Planet does what all dynamic, self-organizing, living systems do.  It trends towards greater and greater levels of complexity and higher levels of organization.  Our Planet is changing and evolving, and through our connection to it, it is exerting pressure on us to entrain to its rhythms and evolve with it.  This pressure to evolve is exerted on us through the various elements in our Environment.  In my experience the influenza virus is simply one of the elements of our Environment that is exerting pressure on us to evolve.  Having worked very closely with roughly a thousand people over the course of the last eight flu seasons, I have witnessed many instances in which the process of “getting sick” with the flu has become part and parcel of a broader healing and evolutionary process in someone’s body and life.  The more I’ve witnessed this phenomenon, the more I have begun to view the influenza virus as just another member of the symbiotic microbiome/virome whose presence can catalyze a process of healing and evolution.   

This healing and evolutionary process is more than a mere philosophical concept.  It is a measurable and reproducible phenomenon that I have observed in the bodies and lives of the people I’ve worked with.  The healing and evolution process is always evidenced by a decrease in the overall tension in a person’s body, a positive change in their posture, a constructive shift in their perceptions of themselves and the World around them, an increased ability to adapt to stress, enhanced and refined body-mind awareness, increased range and depth of emotional expression, heightened sensitivity to their internal rhythms and the rhythms of their Environment and a tendency to make choices from that point forward that will permanently support and sustain these changes.  To the extent that we can connect with our bodies and the wisdom therein, the energy that was previously bound up in the pain, or the symptom, or the “sickness,” or the condition, or the disease becomes the energy that fuels our healing and evolutionary process.  No matter how the “getting sick” process looks, whether it’s a simple back ache, or allergies, or depression, or the flu, or even cancer, it is always part of a broader healing and evolutionary process that involves the shifting balance in our relationship with our selves, and between our selves and our Environment.

The key to accessing the wisdom of our bodies and transforming the “getting sick” process into an empowering process of healing and evolution lies with our ability to focus our attention.  The most life changing thing that we can do for ourselves is to simply turn our focused attention toward our body and let our attention rest on the life force energy that we feel there.  If this sounds too elementary to have the profound effect that I’m claiming, it is because most of us are completely unaware of just how little of our attention we are directing towards our bodies from moment to moment, and therefore have no direct experience of the massive power that we can access by doing so.  We’ve been born into a culture that has an aversion to feeling the body.  This habitual resistance to feeling our bodies has been building momentum in us over the course of thousands of years as each generation has become increasingly convinced of the preeminence of thought.  As humans we spend most of our time completely captivated by the constant stream of thoughts running through our heads.  As a principle of Nature the flow of our attention is constantly and strongly being drawn towards the sensations in our bodies, as well.  But because of our cultural conditioning and our habitual aversion to feeling our bodies, we expend massive amounts of energy in our constant attempt to resist that draw.  That’s why our bodies have to scream at us with painful symptoms or knock us out with disabling illnesses before we’ll stop what we’re doing and pay attention.  Any skill worth learning will take some practice.  In this case the effort is well worth the payoff.  The ability to feel our bodies at all times is the most fundamental skill that we could learn during our lifetime.  I say fundamental because our ability to stay connected to the wisdom of our bodies has a deeply profound effect on the most foundational aspect of our lives, that being our relationship with our selves and our Environment, or our health as I’ve defined it at the beginning of this paper.

Microbiome/virome research supports this larger view of health.  It is showing us that the thing that we call an immune system is not so much a system that protects and defends against attack from the microscopic animal kingdom.  It is a relational system that coordinates and regulates a harmonious interaction between our cells and theirs, between our selves and our Environment.  As our skill in allowing our attention to rest in our bodies increases, so does our access to the wisdom of our bodies, along with our access to the Intelligence that coordinates all of the life on this Planet.  As we become more connected to our selves and our Environment, we feel naturally compelled to make decisions that are more congruent with who we are and why we’re here; decisions that will support a more efficient use of the resources that our bodies and being share with the Planet.  When our resources are not being spent on the continual effort to resist feeling our bodies, our bodies no longer need to scream at us to get our attention and so our pain and our symptoms dissipate.  It also becomes less and less necessary for us to “get sick.”  When we do “get sick” with things like the flu, we are able to see and feel it as part of an Intelligent and empowering process of healing and evolution; the direct experience of abundant health.

Prostate cancer is a very scary thought for most men. The idea that every human being, if unencumbered by other diseases, in his life finally have an enlarged prostate or suffer varying degrees of prostate cancer is no longer a secret.

The difference is now we have grown in a nutritionally advanced culture who has learned to reach more and more on supplements and natural products that can help us to maintain and “health for much longer than we used to, andright to food, our bodies working at peak levels is to eat well in recent years.

Prostate health, is no different. There are foods they can eat that will help your walnut sized prostate operation in top performance, and under conditions of good health for a longer period if you are a nutritionally deficient diet.

Men’s health is more of a concern than the other sex when looked in the light of contemporary life style. They tend to smoke and drink more than women so their bodies need more attention. Apart form the unhealthy lifestyle the stress is also major concern for men’s health. As some of them simply relate themselves to the work they do, the work burdens are commonly seen affecting their health the most.

A few health related problems are such that affect men alone as prostate cancer and low testosterone. Various health problems seen in men can be prevented or treated if caught at early stages like colon cancer or heart diseases. Screening tests come at rescue here. So, it becomes important for every man to go for regular screenings or clinical checkups. And this is the good news that these diseases can be cured as well as prevented.

Men should be well aware of various risk factors to avoid any health problems. Although there are a few genetic ones which can’t be avoided at all but many others are in your control. Consult your doctor on various issues to reduce risk factors. Ask that how frequent you should make him visits and what all are the screenings, vaccines and tests which you may need. This way you can take good care of your health and can fully be incharge of your health issues.

It has been seen that usually men do not take as much care of themselves as women do. Majority of them also die soon due to various health problems. They have been seen having the most unhealthy behavior and are less interested in taking preventive health measures. But if men start taking care of themselves they’ll surely lead longer and healthy lives.

Various symptoms that men should keep an eye on are:

Check any change in bowl or bladder routine. If there is this is a clear indication of prostate or bladder problems. If you notice blood in urine, this may be an indication of kidney problem. And if you get up 4-5 times at night to go to toilet it can be a symptom of enlarged prostate which is commonly seen in men as they grow in age.
If there is erectile dysfunction or impotence it can be due to some other health related problem. You may be facing diabetes, high blood pressure or may have clogged arteries. So, do not just let down and take it seriously as your body is suffering hugely.
Do not leave unchecked if you are facing any of the health problems as continuous backaches, change in color of urine and stool, lumps on body, persistent cough, pains and headaches, chest pains, change in colors of warts and moles etc. Get yourself checked up by a doctor if you face any of these.
Sudden gain or loss in weight should also not go ignored as it may be a symptom of some serious health problem.

 

If you identify any of the symptom in your body visit your doctor immediately. And make a habit of regular checkups for leading a healthy life.
