Review on The Classic Book Romeo and Juliet The Famous Book Romeo and Juliet

Ten years ago, we have read “Romeo and Juliet”. Mary-Kate Olsen Keep an Eye on Blood Pressure Monitor At that time, we only focused on the plot of the story but couldn’t feel the charm of the book. Top brands Crafts of Blood Pressure Monitor Today I read it again, I found that I still depressed and shocked by their faithful love, especially for ever-lasting humanist spirit and artist charming of its words. Romeo and Juliet is full of humanist spirit that other arts lack or have not. This is the point of Ideological level. Humanism is a kind of lifestyle, ideal and values, and it is a kind of noble spiritual realm for people. People should practise and pursue it at any time, so it is eternal. Today, human society has entered the 21st century and the material civilization has reached a rather high level. But the highly developed material civilization doesn’t mean the coordinative progress in the spirit civilizaiton. On the contrary, egoism, utilitarianism, money worship and so on are damaging human’s spiritual life in large degree. Romeo and Julie prove dignity and value as a human through their persistant persuiting of humanist spirit, which is the most exceiting of all.

Shakespeare wrote about ten comedies and one tragedy in his first creation period. His comedies are mainly show the ideals of humanists, pay a tribute to love and friendship, blazon forth individual liberation, free marriage and the rights for one to fight for happiness. At the same time, the presentation of grant betrayal powerful family concepts, fedual ethics and depressions also revealed that exposure to some of the ugly capitalism. Such comedies are”Midsummer Night’s Dream” “The Merchant of Venice” “The Merry Wives of Windsor,” “Much Ado About Nothing” “Grand hi all” and so on . “Romeo and Juliet” written in 1595 is the only tragedy in this period but the ideological connotation is exactly the same as comedies in this period. Romeo and Juliet tragically died for love, but their love is so pure and beautiful, which has finally overcome the feudal oppression and prejudice and demonstrated the dynamic life of the spirit of humanism and the final victory. The humanism is the soul of Romeo And Juliet. The lasting artistic charm of this play is due to the humanism fully laden in it.

Trough the ups and downs of the drama conflict, numerous distinct characters and beautiful and lyric characters’ language, [Romeo and Juliet” depicts a soul-stirring love tragedy. Male and female leading characters were born in two feudal families with family feud, who fell in love with each other in an accidental meeting, but could not be marred. They seeked help from Laurence Godfather who held wedding secretly since pity and understanding. But the feudal parent Capulet wanted to betroth his daughter to young noble Paris and compelled them to marry soon. Juliet resorted to priest Laurence again. The priest gave her sleeping pills to pretend dying so as to escape the disaster. Romeo killed Kaipulaite`s nephew Tiboerte in the fighting and suffered the punishment of the exile of Mandoya. Romeo got to know the “death” of his wife and was deeply grieved, and determined to return Verona overnight helding the decision of death for love, and finally took poison and committed suicide at Juliet’s side. Juliet awoke from coma saw her husband died and took poisons to death. Sad results of Romeo and Juliet made two family feud patriarch see big cost of family feud, they reconciled under manage of Prince.

We could see from this story that the two parents Capulet and Montague, represents the feudal ideology and tradition. They ignored the young`s freedom and love, led to the hatred and conflicts between the two families, and ate their own bitter fruit to lose their children. While Romeo and Juliet represent a new kind of humanism. They make brave and resourceful struggles against feudal ideas and traditions, even though the outcome of the struggle is a tragedy, but in exchange of victory and promotion of the spirit of humanism. Of course, in this play, the spirit of humanism most concentrated and most intense embodys the two young persons – Romeo and Juliet. The two figures are well – shaped by the author, and it is the artistic image for the author to express humanistic ideals. The love between Romeo and Juliet is really shocking. This pure, noble and tragic love makes countless secular loves pale.

The humanistic spirit of the 14th to 16th century in Europe is the rising outlook towards life and values among the capitalist class. Seen from today, it naturally has many limits of that time. However, its “subject” is people and it demands to respect the human nature and value. This is not outdated. In the background of “humanism” lost greatly nowadays, romeo and Juliet, we need to derive the spiritual nutrition from Romeo and Juliet.
