Also, I’ll probably get flamed for this, but I’m not actually a huge fan of Bejewled. I mean, it’s a classic, to be sure, that sparked about a hundred million imitators, but the thing is, IMO, some of those imitators have actually done it better. Just my opinion.

Yes, you may be right, the original tetris is great. And the different versions with weird gimmicks… they just… well, don’t work as well as the original game.
