The software and hardware engineering is very close to this already. We just need “super-duper” bandwidth to make it transfer that smoothly across networks. I think 10 years would probably suffice, given the difference between 2000 internet and 2010 internet. Especially since the difference would probably be much larger in the future. Remember 1990 internet? It looked like DOS and had very little in the way of graphics and other bells and whistles. This is TOTALLY plausible in OUR lifetimes.

okay, did anyone else see the boarding pass at 1:06? I don’t find it likely that in nine years the price of electronics will have gone down enough for something like that to replace a piece of paper. Some of the other stuff is plausible, maybe. But I highly doubt the boarding pass.

The only reason it isn’t marketted is because it cost’s more to build, than would be reasonable to cell.
So no point in selling what no few can afford atm.
For example the mug is possible, but we need blu-tooth, small touch screen, basic processing circuit and the firmware which round off at about 200€,
do you really think it’s feasible to mass market a freaking coffee cup for such a price?
There are even projects on augmented reality with glasses, only issue here is price.
@Jessewb Electronic-screen newspaper? Crazy transparent screen-only computer? Electronic coffee mugs that show the temperature and include a mini computer inside that can flip out files on a crazy-computer table? I mean I saw some of these tables but this one looks like a simple table and not one of those thick big computer-tables (also they use cellphones and cameras, Not coffee mugs and keys), If we really do have this technology today, Why isn’t it being marketed?

We do have the technology for all this NOW and yes I’m including the newspaper tech, mcDonalds already applied for that to be applied on their tray papers, not in 2015 or 19, it’s just not in the mass market, because tech is were the money is at.
Look at cellphones just as an example, a touchscreen that you could only get for at least 200€ 2 years ago, you now get for 50€.
I’m saying this from the point of view of an electronic engineering student.
