Won’t see my wireless. I hooked it up wired, and it will see my network, but fails to log on. I hook up my external hard drives to it, and it will play dvd image files fine, unless they are blu-ray. They play, but it seems there is too much information for it, because after a few minutes, the sound will crackle, then stop. The movie plays on, but no sound. If I pause it, I can get sound again for a couple seconds, but then it does it again.
If it was just regular DVD image files, it works fine, but it is suppose to be an HD player, and Blu-Ray is HD. It will not work with Blu-ray image files.
And the internet radio/tv stuff is a joke, it took me like a century to update the firmware and still shows logon fail message.
one star for some media player basic features, but there are plenty better choices (some of them are even cheaper).

I own the Zinwell unit (not the brite-view or the viewsonic that look exactly the same).
Good for:
-Home HD Videos (Havent run into a file that it wont play yet)
-Playback DVD image files w/o burning on to DVD
-Karaoke Files (it has a left/right channel shift key)
-Picture viewing with background music (you choose what song to play)
Pros:
-2 USB ports that work with Hard Drives (Only tried NTFS) and USB flash drives (Only tried FAT16, FAT32, NTFS)
-lots of codec (rmvb, avi, mkv, iso, vob extensions all work fine)
-1080p output
-both bitstream of decode DTS and Dolby Digital sound (DTS ES 6.1 and DD EX both work fine, dont have anything to test high bitrate audio format though)
-Network capability (never used it)
Cons:
-video/audio glitches when switching subtitles or audio tracks in a video file, easy fix by rewinding a second then play, then will play flawlessly till the end
of the file.

I am not a IT or tech guy but I like to buy & test, use with a new item like networking media box, I have searched couples of items at Amazon.com. Features are very similar, some is name brand, some is not, but I have decided to buy Zinwell box with good price and coule of more features than others don’t have (like free internet TV/Radio). Overall, I am very happy for now and this is a good toy for everyone who want to playback all contents at HDD and can support most popular formats without problem. Picture & Sound quality is super-excellent and Wired networking connection is good, it’s easy & convenient machine.

I am using this media box for 3 weeks and it’s very easy to setup and can playback most of video & audio formats inclduing rmvb, mkv, avi, mpeg4 without problems, also I saw internet Radio/TV function, picture qualty is just acceptable, becasue it’s from internet from several counties. Only my concern is – this is not compatible with my Zonet wireless USB dongle, so I have to buy ZIN-5005HD dedicated USB dongle. Will update later.

Great media playback files from pc,hdd,etc. to your TV

Original unit does not came with Muzee, it is an extra to the unit. The unit auto download and update on the first time connect to internet, which is great. My unit fail to play Muzee first time, contact customer service and got quick response from them. The Mac address on the unit must register to server, after email them my unit mac address, it work. Not sure about other Muzee player, but this got slow booting. Some of the channels got invalid path. I guess this Muzee server need more frequent update to the channel list. I test both radio and TV channels, they need more than 1 minute loading time.
If you want to playback your online account like netflix, amazon movie, which you prepaid your online movies, and want to playback without your computer, this is your choice. Require PLAYON set up in one of your network computer, connect your player to your network then select them from UPnP from your media player. ***Easy using interface, auto run. Like Muzee, loading time require; so be damn patient; more like using free Comcast movie on Demand. which mean you have to wait for the list come up before select your next choice, could be up to 2 minute for the movie loading/start. I tried Hulu, list by genes and after it start playing, the movie keep running one after another on the list, which really cool. you can stop and select your movie from what they offer on the list. Again you have to enter registered account such as Hulu Amazon Vob etc. into your Playon application on your computer.
Playback buttons work great on any single file movie such as avi, 6 steps forward (1.5x, 2x, 4x, 8x, 16x and 32x) next button >> to next file. great thing, you can either play folder (dvd) or browse folder (mix of dvd and sub folder).
Cons: reading and buffer are slow to large folder, so divide your files to sub catergories. if your hard drive have 2000+ file/folder then it boot up slower (I did have 2k+ karaoke in one folder and it take time to retrieve/buffer). After the list come up, the unit then buffer to preview the movie file, imagine it will stop then preview every file you select from the list at least 15sec/ea, pain in the neck. if you dont want to waste your time then turn off the preview mode in the set up (***smart***) so you can roll down the list. Also keep less files in each folder, I hope they can tell us what is the idea number of files we can heave in each folder so we dont have to wait for it buffer/reading.
Here is what you dont want to see. The remote control got the goto button, suppose to search file on play list. This button does not work properly. The number button can go up to 555, I got 2000 file and the button does not auto open/search. the goto button pop up the search tile/file number but it only show 1/1 and does not allow you to key in the file number (index) you want to open. so you have to forward 1 by 1. if you stop the reader will pause and buffer the current folder again (not good for a karaoke party, waste more than 5min to get your song running). I know many media players have the same problem on their interface, I can’t believe zinwell make the same mistake; hopefully Zinnet resolve this issue and update the player ASAP, I know most of us want this unit for Karaoke and like to key in file index number. This malfuntion will turn you off before you got excite. Will let you know if Zinnet update this search function.
So far I recommend this product to my friend, she not using the karaoke function so she happy to buy this unit at this price.
