I’ve only been to the drive in movie twice in my life. I went to one drive in movie in Utah when I was nine years old and I went to a drive in theater here in Pennsylvania, but I don’t remember how old I was when I saw the Harry Potter movie at the drive in.
1:58 Did he just swore? Cause it sounded like “Dust my Bitches”. WTF?
@cphershon: Southern Oklahoma. I used to think that since our town was somewhat rual, that the theature wasn’t getting enough customers. But that can’t be true, because when I went to see Toy Story 3 there was a line out to the door. I think they raised the prices to make extra money. :(
@zperra Holy cow! Where do you live?
@cphershon: Lucky. Last time I got popcorn and a drink at my local theater it was almost twenty bucks. And that was with a coupon!
we used to pack a cooler with snacks when I was a kid,but now the same drive in makes you buy a Permit to bring in outside food Iwouldnt mind paying for the food if it was edible. The hotdogs taste like inner tube ,the soda is always flat and the pizza is foul.
O_o I remember the last ad in this video. but I haven’t gone to my somewhat local drive-in in ages!
@dudemantwo well…. he IS a wiener!
lets not go to the lobby and pack our own lunch and dont forget to put plastic wrap on the toilet so that the next guy pisses on himself.
The popcorn is hypnotizing you. Lol?
Was corny the by line in these videos?
Why does the hotdog have such a goofy voice?
The lobby candy girl is hot…
Is this a real comercial or a retro commercial…?
The music and cartoons ARE brainwashing. During the movie, they show a subliminal image of food only on one frame and the sub conscience mind picks it up. Then all of a sudden people need to dash for the concession stand in droves to buy that item. All it takes is one frame of popcorn or what ever at 1/60th of a second. And without thinking about it, all of a sudden you have an urge to buy that food during the movie. This gimmick is as old as movies are…. Compliments of Sigmund Freud.
yeah baby i sing this everytime i do to the movies, yeah baby treats treats TREATS!!!!
ah the good old days of the drive ins ! miss that.
If a talking weiner says “I’m ready for your eatin’ fun” Run.
I also have a problem with the disembodied childs’ head entertaining the sexually frisky talking hot dog. The employees behind the counter look like psychotics as well.
@ArizonaDelRio: Look at it again. EVERYBODY was running to the snack bar. Tex just happened to be a little faster than the rest of them…that doesn’t exactly make him rude.
lol candy bars arnt norishing
Tex was really rude running to the head of the line like that. He didn’t pay for the pop corn, either. And did he finish the movie the people payed to see?
you did that
pfffft the hot dog one!
Overprized Snackbars Gread … when i go in a Theatre i dont buy Popcorn or coka there i buy before i go in the snacks in a supermarket :D
Why is the video sped up?
@MrUnidyne Ah so I have an idea of what they were like. I probably would have liked Milkshake cause I am not too fond of caramel except in TWIX.
@LittlePinky82 “Doscher’s Famous French Chew Taffy” is very close to Bonomo’s. It has no national distribution, so you may have to order it on-line. Milky Way is similar to Milkshake, but Milkshake’s nougat was malt flavored and had no caramel. Baby Ruth is very similar to the old Powerhouse.
@MrUnidyne Aw. Is there no current day manifestations?
@LittlePinky82 The only problem is that some candy bars from that heyday, such as Milkshake, Powerhouse and Bonomo Turkish Taffy, are no longer being made.
@MrUnidyne That would be cool. And have the snacks like they did back then too on that night. :-p
@LittlePinky82 If I ever get the money to start a drive-in theater, I would hold a “nostalgia night” at least one a month. Old movies, cartoons & short subjects, a live band, the works. It’s a dream, but one I can aim for.
I LOVE IT!!!!
I don’t know why but I’ve always like the women in these old animated commercials. Love that old retro look to them.
GULP GULP!
@AxeGamers:
The Drive In in my town does. XD
and the rise of the multi-plex. one building sometimes showing 4-6 different movies. When Star Trek (2k9) need 4 screens with the first reel starting every 15 minutes, and other people going to see movies like revenge of the sith or pokemon, you end up using the lobby as a meeting place when the movie is over. of course, in the 50/60s, there was some movies that clocked in at the 3-4 hour run time also. (a recent example was the movie “Gettysburg” which ran nearly 4 hours.)
Too bad they dont do cartoons like this anymore. :C
My grandmother’s town their “downtown” is still the same as the 50′s and 60′s so it’s like you’re going back in time but everyone is driving current cars and wearing current fashion haha. Some of the house’s are the same and churches and stuff. It’s so weird. They even have their old theater still the same as back then lol. I doubt they have the same experience though but they’ll have on the sign like two movies that they’re playing haha. It’s really cute.
I agree, Pinky. Heck, I’d pay the nearly $10 a ticket for comfortable seats, clean floors, and an usherette to show me to my seat. Plus a double-feature of old movies, cartoons, newsreels, etc.
It would be neat if every town could have one theater that’s old fashioned and did things like that with intermission and all. And drive-in’s too. I think there’s one around where I live. My father mentioned it once.
Intermission cartoon clips like this added to the experience, although I do remember on occassion they wouldn’t be as fully stocked as the ads promised. My closest drive in growing up was the LANSING, and, I can remember once seeing a gigantic ice cream bar up on the screen. You guessed it, they didn’t sell ice cream at the snack bar. Another drive in that I worked at it’s last nine seasons, occassionally ran a reel featuring cigarettes we no longer sold. Finally we sliced it out.
The panting makes me laugh.
Dunes, they don’t do intermissions anymore because there’s no such thing as a double feature anymore. Or cartoons and newsreels. Move ‘em in and out as fast as you can. That’s the movie system today.
Would 3 minutes be enough to really be able to serve everyone? Or maybe, when the show started again, it would be previews and the cartoon and that stuff. You still had time to stand in line for popcorn and other treats before that start of “Our Feature Presentation”.
Heh-heh,I remember seeing this off a vintage VHS cassette on weird cartoons. I wonder why they don’t do intermissions anymore at movie theaters?
0:17 is jusy plainwird
but eveything else s good
can’t go wrong with these vintage films.
