Personally I love Stalker but I have to notice the downfall in the game quality
First was excellent but was missing a few features that Clear sky and CoP have,Clear sky is good tho strongpoint missions are silly becouse you can’t get to em all especially in cordon and garbage
CoP is just plainly 2 short,no atmosphere and the whole plot is just shit XD
I wish they would make a stalker with all the features we’ve seen so far + longer plot,ALL areas and the final clarification on the Zone being

For those of you who are uninterested by the game thanks to the bugs, just wait a month or so for the Clear Sky Complete 2009 mod, it’s a compilation of bug fixes, balance improvements, weather/graphics overhauls and A LOT MORE. That mod exists for the first game and it’s truly awesome. It improves upon everything while still keeping the core of the game the way it’s supposed to be.
So wait for that one to come out for clear sky, then give it another try!

they made a shit load of patchs like up untill now and i played it once with patchs and once without and when u have the patchs all ur frustrations go away (well at least most they still didn’t seem to fix the unfair grenade tossing by nps)

Yeah, this game its really buggey, to the piont were its funny, still a great game tho, but sometimes the bugs stop you from completing missions, and every one seems to have the same voice, the hanguns are a joke, competely inaccurate, put it very satisfying when you nail someone in the head, from a far,the shotguns are crap too, its gets better when you get hold of the better weapons, and upgraded them, scoped weapons with silencers are my fav, the shotguns are crap too
I read an article about patches and mods that change the game so it is more what casual gamers want, so I’m thinking about getting it now.
As far as I can see, many reviewers made their impression about CS by playing mostly at swamps. Early swamp gameplay is perhaps the hardest part: crappy gear, pretty intensive fighting from the very beginning, poor understanding of the game mechanics (for a beginner) etc. So, I guess they should have given it a better try before jumping to (somewhat wrong) conclusions.
honestly, complaining about bugs that make the game harder is, in my ears kids whining, i welcome the hard difficulty in games, even if they come from bugs or “balancing”
dont like enemies pelting you with grenades? well i like it, if every single enemy should be given the same options as you, they would lob a grenade-
i dont mind them doing so, when it is done by early enemies in great numbers with poor accuracy, or better trained enemies in lesser numbers, but with deadly effect. but still ok

There is certainly a learning curve to this game (a short one for veterans of SoC as well, I’d say), but as soon as you got the grip of the game mechanics, it’s plain fun. Challenging? Yes! It’s the survival FPS, after all.
I began playing on the latest patch. No issues at all. Bugs and CTDs are the matter of the past, I guess.
my only beef with this game is that it is rediculously hard even on novice. some instances are almost impossble to do unless you “cheat”. oh and the whole not knowing if the area your about to walk in will kill you untill your radiation meter is already half full and your losing chunks of life by the second is pretty frustrating to as some of them are placed pretty randomly.
is the maps on multiplayer online small like far cry 2? and is one’s able to eat ?
You should try going to Agroprom Institute (clear sky) first to upgrade your SEVA suit. then catch up with Fang. I couldn’t move on to the next phase of the game after that.
I cant understand why so many complain about bugs. I never encountered any major game breaking bugs. Only minor ones like people getting stuck and that kind of stuff. I played the first STALKER without any patches installed and it didn’t crash once!
